and there goes day 5. today was another long one. probably the most walking. i started out by walking to the golden tours office near the victoria coach station and boarded my tour. the first stop was about an hour away at leeds castle. the castle was reallllly nice and since it was such a nice day it made it even better. i guess the castle was one of henry viii's favorites. also on the castle grounds they had an aviary and a maze. the maze, however, was not so fun. i got lost inside it for 20 minutes and nearly missed my bus and i was not in a good mood once i finally found my way out (after cheating by jumping over the hedges to try to see the right path). after that we made a short drive to the ocean to see the white cliffs of dover along with dover castle which was nice, and then we made our way to canterbury. first i got lunch at none other than mcdonalds. even thought i normally dont like mcdonalds back home it is becoming one of my favorites here - 2 plain cheeseburgers and fries and a medium drink - from the saver menu. after that we went to the canterbury cathedral which was super awesome, not to mention humongous. i took a zillion pictures in there cuz every way i turned there was something nice. a little old lady that worked there stoped me and asked where i was from and i told her and she responded by thanking me for bringing the weather with me. after the cathedral i walked around the city for a bit, got a bloody nose, and then made my way back to the coach. i fell asleep on the ride to greenwich, but when we got there we had a quick driving tour of the city and then boarded a shuttle boat that took us down the thames and back to embankment pier. from there i did some walking in the city of london. i started off by walking down fleet st. to st. pauls cathedral, then across the millenium bridge and over to the tower of london (and getting lost a few times as well). i took some pictures of the tower of london before meeting a jack the ripper tour at tower hill tube station (which i had to run to in order to make it on time). the tour was really interesting. the guy who led it, donald, knew pretty much everything about jack the ripper which was cool and kinda creepy/weird, but it was fun overall. after the tour ended miles away from anywhere where i knew where i was, i then walked to the nearest tube station which happened to be liverpool st. and then made my way back to my hostel where i ate some snack food for dinner and took a shower. and that was my day. long but fun p.s. i have more pictures

ReplyDeleteHahaha. I'm glad you are enjoying England. Some people just wouldn't have as much fun in one city for a while. I love the Jack the Ripper tours, always interesting to hear how someone died...
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for you Platform 9 3/4 picture!
