day 27

ok....day 27! this was a pretty fun day. we started off by checking out of our hostel in killarney around 9:30am (i did not have a good night sleep because snorway was on the top of his game last night). our first stop was in the county of cork at the village of Macroom. we just went there really quick to get a snack before moving on. Our next stop was in the village of Kinsale which is supposedly the culinary capital of ireland. luckily for us, tuesday is market day in kinsale when all the locals come to the town square and sell their food. I got some curry chicken and rice for lunch which was really good. Then, i walked over to a bookstore and bought the da vinci code which i intend to read since i just finished angels and demons. after kinsale we hopped back on the bus and drove for a bit to blarney castle - home of the infamous blarney stone. sadly, i fell asleep on the bus when our driver was telling us the story of the blarney stone (granddad- im pretty sure you know it so u will have to tell me, or i think kevin does too, so one or the other). once i woke up, i got off the bus and we went to go stand in line to enter the castle. Unfortunately, a cruise had landed at a nearby port so the castle was filled with people, and there was a long line to get to the stone. but i toughed it out with some others from our tour for about an hour and a half until we reached the top of the castle and the stone was awaiting. When it was my turn i bent over backwards while the guy was holding me and kissed the blarney stone - it was pretty exciting. After making it back to the bus we then headed for cork. When we arrived in cork we went on a quick walk around the city, and then came back to the hostel and i took a shower. and now we are cooking up some dinner in the hostels kitchen on our last night in ireland! see ya!

  3. Ahh, this is nice. I visited all these same places and I loved it. Did you walk around all the grounds at the Blarney castle? I think it was beautiful. The sacrificial altar, the witch's steps, and the underground tunnels to the castle basement.

BTW: Kissing the stone is supposed to grant you life long eloquence. But the locals also supposedly pee on it. Whatever, I kissed it. Eloquence is worth it.

I'm so proud of you for finishing Angels and demons! What did you think?
